John Diebel is currently a Patent & Licensing Associate at Michigan Technological University. John's current responsibilities include working with inventor's at the U-TEAMED cooperating universities of Michigan Tech, Oakland University, Eastern Michigan University and Central Michigan University to assess commercial and licensing potential of disclosed inventions. He also works on commercializing technology, marketing inventions to licensees and negotiating various agreements with commercial partners.
John worked for eight years as a forester for public and private entities prior to receiving a management degree with an option in industrial forestry. He worked for eleven years at MTU in transferring technology developed by wood scientists in the School of Forestry, participating in undergraduate education and helping to secure research funds. One of those technologies he was personally involved in commercializing via a start-up company.
John holds a a B.S. in Forest Science from Colorado State University and a M. S. Degree in Management from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University. He was previously a Vice President of GFP Strandwood Corp., a company manufacturing molded wood office seating components utilizing technology developed at MTU.
